Give us Insurrection...
7th February 2009 10:56pm
We are too old to cry, too young to die.
We're bound to the promise of better lives.
We're bought and sold, content to know,
That we'll never have to fight if we do what we're told.
We are warrior sons but we run from a cause,
That brings freedom and purpose and hope to us all.
We would rather be a product of the world and it's whims,
Than have the world be a product of the force of our wills.

RISE. And at the sound of our standing the earth will groan.
RISE. And we will break their backs.

And we will stretch for days and miles and years,
Pulled across the fabric of our hopes and fears.
We'll pay the price, the sacrifice.
Rebels and angels, a storm on white light.

Earth shakers, life takers,
Passion and purpose makes men of us all.
The slow rotting, the cancerous fear,
The corruption, we put a stop to it here.

Brothers in arms to me.
RISE. And at the sound of our standing the earth will groan.
RISE. And we will break their backs with the weight of our will.

Give us insurrection.
Give us something to say.
Give us thirst for vengeance.
And we will break their backs with the weight of our will.

We moved... It wasn't as smooth as I'd hoped, but it went well enough. The movers my mom so generously hired forgot to stop and meet me at Amy's storage unit to pick up the washer, dryer, couch, and chair that she wanted to give us, so we got a late start. After that, they broke a window in our old apartment. Then they apparently forgot how to read, because all the boxes marked for a bedroom ended up in the living room, and most of the boxes marked "Living room" ended up in either Alex's bedroom or the basement. Finally, the estimate I was given (about $490) was nowhere near the actual cost--$750.

I'm just happy that nothing got lost or broken.

We spent the next day moving things that we didn't trust the illiterate apes to handle. We've gotten most things unpacked now, but there's still quite a bit to be done.

We can't get online yet, because one of the people charged with cleaning this apartment before we moved in decided to stick his paint brush in the phone jack. Now we're left paying for DSL we can't yet use, and running up and down the stairs when somebody calls because we have only one working phone.

Penny, being the obsessive and slightly paranoid person that she is, made note of that and other things (including about 15 things I hadn't noticed) and they've promised to come by tomorrow to fix some of the bigger things... Like the phone I mentioned earlier.

Also of note is the fact that the dish washer leaks, the back door doesn't always open, and the dryer vent is falling apart--which explains why we're doing a few loads here at my mom's place.
